Parking SAC Concerns

September 25, 2016 By TonyJ Leave a Comment

Comment: I want to reiterate what I brought up at the last meeting. I am concerned about the increase of some of the ratios in downtown. I have concerns about raising the ratios on the densest part of the Central City and what that will do to traffic congestion and mode split. I trust that the 1.0 ratio was made with the 25% mode share target in mind, but I worry about going from the current .7 to 1.0 in the densest part of downtown on some of the uses. Staff response: At the time, there were many surface parking lots that could accommodate parking demand, so that’s why we made the ratios lower. But the input we have heard from developers now, is that with the loss of many surface lots to redevelopment, they need to be able to build some additional parking.
